what's the best golf tool to fix one's swing?

with so many gadgets out there, i wanted to get some insight from people that have purchased various tools to see what has worked best for them in fixing their swing (ie: proper takeaway, proper release, proper swing plane, etc). not a beginner, but my game has stalled over the last few yrs (95-100) so figure need some help at this pt, but don't feel like taking lessons (primarily due to cost) so any advice/suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated. thx.

Why not hit my irons so far?

I've been playing golf for two or three years. I started teaching with an excellent instructor in the Pinehurst area and have a smooth compact swing looking good. I have a swing plane that is based on my body rotation to hit the ball slinging my upper body shooting through my hips, and hit the ball straight (most of the time). My driver is fine and I can keep up with the guys who usually play with around of 260-290 that hit on average. My iron however, are usually 1-3 clubs shorter than they are. It would bother me much, but it kills me on the par 3, when 175 yards and I'm hitting a 4 iron and is hitting 6 or 7. I would like to be able to use a more lofted club to stick the green and instead of watching it hit and leave back on these greens narrow or shallow. Just do not understand the drastic difference in the irons. I use Callaway X-18 that are actions, except new grips. Any help, advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have heard only Callaway shortest game similar marks. Never owned it myself. For nearly 20 dollars per club, you could have a "areas of the stock and put new grips put on. You may want to have the lie adjusted to compensate however. Or you might face a little bell, push the hands forward a little more. That can make it engages a bit more than we're used to though. Or you could go to a shop and hitting on the simulator and launch monitor and go with something else. Or you could work in club head speed, perhaps through the use of a club weighted for practice. Or you can accept the fact that you, who no longer hitter in the group and work on accuracy. Good luck.
